The last pair of 4s I picked up are a retro of an OG colorway. These Air Jordan 4 Cool Grey are also a retro, only this colorway originally released in 2004. This is the first time since the original Cool Grey 4s came out that this exact 4 has been retro’d.
The shoe is fairly nondescript for a pair of 4s. A white jumpman against a dark grey background is shown on the tongue tag and insole. The tongue tag also features “Flight” in a yellow script.
There’s a yellow jumpman on the outsole and a metallic silver jumpman on the rear of the shoe. They come with a standard Air Jordan 4 box.
How Are The Materials?
The material quality is ok on these. The nubuck upper is fairly soft although it doesn’t scream “premium” to me. This is another shoe that is more about nostalgia and aesthetic than materials. Do not expect a to be blown away with the quality if you decide to purchase a pair. That said, you won’t be disappointed with the materials either.
How Do They Fit?
In many runners and other brands I wear a 9.5, but in most Nikes I do a 10. Fours tend to hit my pinky and big toe in weird ways when I go true to my Nike size. For the Air Jordan 4 Cool Grey, I grabbed a 10.5, and this is so much more comfortable! Basically the painful areas of contact I used to have are met with a bit more room now. These do feel like they fit slightly big, however I’ll take comfort over pain any day.
I was always going to cop this shoe. It’s a no-brainer for sneaker collectors that like Jordans. Overall it’s a must have shoe and I’m glad I got another chance to own a pair!
